Pastor

Pastor John Woodford has served at Good News Baptist Church, Sioux City since 2007.  God saved him at the age of five, after trusting the message of John 3:16. He graduated from high school planning on dairy farming with his father but was gripped by Jesus’ question in Mark 8:36, “What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul?”  The reality of his friends being left to a Christless eternity, burdened him with the need to share the hope he had in Christ with others.  He sold my cows to his dad, went to Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary, and graduated in 2005 with a double major in Pastoral Studies and Counseling, and MA in Theology in 2007.  God gave him a wonderful wife, Tara, who he met at FBBC, and they graduated with master’s degrees, were married, and John started a pastoral internship at GNBC under the church planting pastor, Brad Hoff, all in 2007.  Today they have three little munchkins that daily bring rejoicing to their hearts: Anna, Joshua, and Abigail.  They enjoy reading missionary biographies and American history, gardening and Menards runs as they make and dream about home improvements.
